2 Mar 06 (Thu)
- AM. Put in some brown dried leaves into the fish pond. These were
  picked up around Geylang East. The leaves are supposed to stabilise
  the PH level of the pond water. Will monitor.
- PM. Cleaned filter. Replaced top 2 layers. The water was brimming
  on the top layer. Last cleaning ONLY 2 days ago on 28 Feb Tue. 
  My gosh! I must be feeding too much! Resolved to cut back on feeding. 
  It is crazy to have to maintain the filter every 2 days!

6 Mar 06 (Mon)
- AM. Cleaned filter. Replaced top 2 layers. 2nd layer also had to be
  replaced although it was used just once. Unfortunately, it was too
  thin and was ripped. Last cleaning about 4 days ago.
- Have minimised on fish feed. Now the aquatic plants become the staple
  food. Hopefully, this can reduce waste from the bigger goldfishes and
  allow the biological filter to function longer.

10 Mar 06 (Fri)
- PM. Cleaned filter. Replaced top layer. 2nd layer cleaned and used
  for second time. Last cleaning 4 days ago on Monday 6 Mar.

13 Mar 06 (Mon)
- Observed that the black balloon mollies have started to reproduce!
  Spotted at least 5 baby mollies. Hooray! This is the day that
  I had been waiting for a long time.

15 Mar 06 (Wed)
- AM. Cleaned filter. Replaced top layer. 2nd layer cleaned and used
  for third time. Last cleaning about 5 days ago on Fri 10 Mar.
  Also cleaned the submerged filter pump which had clogged and had 
  algae on its body.

21 Mar 06 (Tue)
- AM. Cleaned filter. Top layer replaced. 2nd layer cleaned and used
  for fourth time. Last cleaning 6 days ago on on Wed 15 Mar.

24 Mar 06 (Fri)
- Isolated one sick lion head gold fish. Seemed that its body had
  white spots. Used bluish medical solution to treat. Not sure if
  this would save the fish...

27 Mar 06 (Mon)
- Isolated gold fish died. I had forgotten to put in aeration into
  the pail. Sigh...
- Cleaned biological filter. Replaced top 2 layers.

03 Apr 06 (Mon)
- Noon. Cleaned filter. Top layer replaced. 2nd layer cleaned and used
  for the second time. Last cleaning was 7 days ago!

04 Apr 06 (Tue)
- Heavy rains on both Monday and Tuesday afternoon. The pond filled
  up very quickly. Had to pump away the water to get back to the
  2nd outlet mark.

08 Apr 06 (Sat)
- Bought $5 worth of aquatic plants from Blk 216 Bedok North.
- Noticed that there is only 1 baby balloon molly left. 
  And there are only 2 adult mollies (one male, one female)
  left.

09 Apr 06 (Sun)
- Heavy rains on Sat night. Pumped out some of the water. Had did some
  pond cleaning by removing dirt and dead plants from the bottom
  of the pond.

10 Apr 06 (Mon)
- Bought 2 aquatic plants ($2) and 14 balloon mollies (black, white,
  orange) ($12) from PR Fish Farm Unit C. The pond had been down
  to only 2 adult mollies and 1 baby molly.

12 Apr 06 (Wed)
- Cleaned filter. Top layer replaced. 2nd layer used for 3rd time.
  Last cleaning was 3 Apr (Mon), 9 days ago! So far, this has been
  the longest interval between cleaning.

23 Apr 06 (Sat)
- Cleaned filter after more than 11 days. 2nd layeer used for 4th time.
  Last cleaning was 12 Apr (Wed). Another longest interval.

24 Apr 06 (Sun)
- Unusual case! A lion head goldfish was found dead outside the pond.
  Ants were having a feast! How did it get there? Was it the stray
  cat or a bird or what?!@#!

30 Apr 06 (Sun)
- Cleaned filter after 1 week. New 2nd layer. Top layer also changed.

07 May 06 (Sun)
- Cleaned filter after 1 week. Top layer was changed. 2nd layer used for 2nd time.

13 May 06 (Sat)
- Filter overflowed for the first time. In the morning, it was OK. But in the late
  afternoon, the overflowing started. Water level dropped by a bit. But it was still
  up above the 2nd covered outlet.
- Cleaned the filter. Continue to use 2nd layer for the 3rd time.

18 May 06 (Thu)
- Filter overflowed for 2nd time! Lots of water leaked away. Pond level dropped
  drastically, down to below the first covered outlet!
- Shutdown filter to clean it. 2nd layer used for 4th time.

21 May 06 (Sun)
- Cleaned filter. Last cleaning was only a few days ago when the filter overflowed!
  2nd layer used for 5th time.

03 Jun 06 (Sat)
- Cleaned filter. Last cleaning a few days back. But certainly not on 21 May. 2nd layer
  used for third time, I think.

07 Jun 06 (Wed)
- Nite. Cleaned filter. 2nd layer used for fourth time.

08 Jun 06 (Thu)
- Added 5 blue-coloured fishes and 5 angel fishes. Had bought them from
  a shop next to the coffeeshop at Block 416 Bedok North. Also bought aquatic 
  plants (7 for $5) at Blk 418 Bedok North.

10 Jun 06 (Sat)
- Removed debris from bottom of pond. Also cleaned filter. 2nd layer used for fifth time.

12 Jun 06 (Mon)
- Cleaned filter prior to trip to Genting on 13-15 Jun 06. 2nd layer replaced.

17 Jun 06 (Sat)
- Cleaned filter prior to trip to Penang to attend 2nd brother's (Chun Sing) 
  funeral. 2nd layer used for 2nd time.

22 Jun 06 (Thu)
- Cleaned filter. 2nd layer used for 3rd time.
- Also added 4 lionheads, 2 black butterflies ($10), 5 blue lilies ($2) and more than 20 
  guppies ($2). Bought from shop at Blk 416 Bedok North. Total cost $14.00.
- Cleaned bottom of pond. Also cleaned area around pond beside the house.

25 Jun 06 (Sun)
- PM. Cleaned pond filter. 2nd layer used for 4th time. Removed around 5 angel fishes.
  Could not find any left. Seems like all the angel fishes have died!

06 July 06 (Thu)
- PM. Cleaned pond filter. Replaced top 2 layers. Disposed of the 2 aeration tubes and the
  air-pump. Replaced filter pump which had broken down.

15 July 06 (Sat)
- AM. Cleaned pond filter. 2nd layer used for 2nd time.

22 July 06 (Sat)
- AM. Cleaned pond filter. Replaced top 2 layers.

03 Oct 06 (Tue)
- Gosh, such a long time ago since my last blog on this!
- Bought UV light bulb @ $20 and Weipro 4000 pump @ $40.
- PM. Cleaned pond filter. Top layer changed. 2nd layer used for 2nd time.
  Also replaced UV light bulb.
